The Degree Programme in International Business Management is intended for people who wish to develop their professional skills for working in demanding developmental or managerial tasks in international business environment. The profile of the applicant is a professional that has been working for at least three years, is working full time and would like to develop their professional skills in international business. It is possible to study full time, but the program is intended to be completed by people that are living and working in Finland. Finnish people and people that have moved to Finland are encouraged to apply. What we offer is the opportunity for the student to improve their knowledge, skills, and competences of global business environments, strategic management, and process and project management in the context of international business. The studies offer the student a strong foundation for professionally managing and developing businesses as well as for professional self-management.

At the beginning of their studies, each student will complete a personalized learning plan consisting of 60 ECTS of Masters level studies and 30 ECTS of their Final Thesis work. The personalized learning plan for the sixty 60 ECTS is built from 15 ECTS of Advance Professional Studies in International Business Development, 15 ECTS of the strategic focal areas of LAUS, 15 ECTS of Competence Management and Development, 15 ECTS of Research and Development. In addition to the courses offered through the program, the student may register for additional elective credits to help shape and customize their learning plan to better fit with their learning objectives. These learning objectives will be reviewed and discussed with our student advisor and head of the program so that everyone is aware of where the student choosing to develop their learning plan.
The strategic focal areas of the school will play an important role in shaping the student theses. For example, the business of design, the business of the environment, the business of healthcare and green supply chain management. Many of the course deliverables will contribute to building the thesis in order to form a more cohesive learning experience and in order to create a platform for either career advancement or career transitions. We will start the development of the thesis area from the very beginning of the program and it will evolve over the course of the program. The thesis is not an afterthought, but an integral structure for the student’s learning experience.
The student will be able to describe how the international business environment affects business management and operations. He or she will be able to analyze market opportunities and to identify potential business opportunities in different market areas. He or she will be able to discuss business environments, regulations, legal situations and requirements and to identify critical stakeholders and how to align these lines of discussion within their thesis. The student is expected to be very active in the discussions in the classroom and hone their professional skills of persuasion and argumentation both in written and oral forms.
The student’s thesis is a capstone of their personal learning experience. The program provides a challenging learning environment to develop new industry capabilities to the student by focusing them through the thesis process from the very beginning of the program. It is not something which occurs after the course work, but is built during the personal development of the student’s learning experience.

We cooperate with other Masters level programs within LUAS and FUAS and we have a wide network of international partner schools.
Our research priorities are to deliver the strategic aims of LUAS at the graduate level and to create solid research that can directly benefit the students, the development of regional community and the international business community of our graduates.
Students in the program have almost immediately applied their learning directly in their work place. Many of the graduates are able to capitalize on new opportunities both within their current organization and in new professional careers.
We are delighted that it is in fact becoming more common for some of our graduates to continue on for Doctoral level studies at University. The research skills and the quality level of our work does provide them with the necessary skills to succeed in a Doctoral program.
