Study objectives

As a business administration student at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences, you will develop contemporary business administration skills in a modern, international learning environment. The programme combines theory and practice and equips you for a range of roles in businesses and organisations.

Study contents

In the first year, you will develop a good foundation in various aspects of business administration and the ability to build your personal competence path. You will deepen your competence through a choice of courses in marketing, financial management, leadership, logistics, entrepreneurship, digital business and international business. You can also choose multidisciplinary modules in service design, circular economy and entrepreneurship.

The modules emphasise projects carried out with companies, multidisciplinary learning environments, and online studies.

You will be supported and assisted in your choices by a designated tutor throughout the programme. You will also have an opportunity to choose modules from the evening class selection and virtual studies.

Choosing a main subject or field of specialization

This programme does not have a specialisation. Your competence profile will depend on your module choices. Draw up a personal study plan with your tutor. Prior or experiential (work-based) learning will be taken into account in the plan. It is also possible to accredit your current work towards your degree.

More about the language of instruction

The primary language of instruction is Finnish, but English-language courses are also included.

Thesis

Your thesis can be action- or research-based. The thesis is prepared at the end of the programme, and in it, you will apply knowledge and skills you learned during your study path. A personal supervisor will guide you during the final project.

Qualification

The programme leads to a University of Applied Sciences Bachelor's degree. The qualification is suitable for various private sector roles as well as public sector positions with eligibility criteria that include applicable UAS qualifications.

Internationalization

We offer our students diverse opportunities to gain international competence for working life. You will be able to complete part of your studies at our partner institutions around the world and take work placement periods in other countries. Our language course offering is designed to help you develop extensive and diverse language skills. English-language courses provide opportunities to network with students and teachers from different cultures.

Co-operation with other parties

Our students collaborate with businesses and other organisations throughout the programme. Studies include projects which are carried out for real-world business organisations and combine theory and practice. Modules also include guest lectures by industry representatives.

Research focus

Your studies will incorporate workplace development tasks in cooperation with businesses and working communities. Multidisciplinary workplace-oriented projects and a range of learning environments (student cooperatives, LimuRadio, SimulTi, Fumatec, and Linkku) help you build strong contacts with employer organisations.

Career opportunities

Once you have completed the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, you can work in various companies and institutions as a specialist or manager. The studies also prepare you for working as an entrepreneur and in international positions.

Postrgraduate study opportunities

Graduates who have gained at least three years of work experience can continue to a UAS Master's degree programme. Alternatively, you can apply for Master's degree programmes at various universities.
